Moura Special Education Program
The Moura Special Education Program is based at Morua State School. The refurbished classroom including a life skills area, laundry and a toilet and shower is suitable for use by poeple with impairments. The unit has a fenced play area.Moura S.E.P. is responsible for the student's with impirments at Moura State School and High School but also to students with impairments from Banana, Baralaba, Theodore and Bauhinia Schools. The unit provides an outreach service to these schools. The unit is coded to proved programs for students aged 0 to 18 years of age.The schools involve students in as many mainstream lessons as possible, taking into account their abilities. Teacher aide and teacher support is provided to ascertained students keeping them in their appropriate year level if possible. Where necessary timetables are flexible to allow students to have access to subjects that cater for their needs. Most students follow a regular timetable.

Year 7 Transition Program Semester Two provides opportunities for students in Year Seven from Banana, Bauhinia and Morua State Schools to access the S.E.P. and the High School to socialise and to form relationships with other students. During Term Three students begin to visit the High School to familiarsie themselves with the layout and staff of the school. They also become involved in transition activities offered by Moura State School Year Seven classes.
Work Experience Students from Year Ten are involved in work experience for a negotiated period of time. Students may have one or more placements at various businesses around Moura.
Community Access Students involved in the S.E.P. may participate in a Community Access Program, weekly shopping and community liaisons visists.
School Nurse Students at the High School have access to a school nurse for weekly sessions.
Virtual Schooling A Virtual schooling program called "Stepping Stones" enables our students to acquire all or part of Certificate 1 in Work Education giving them skills needed to gain employment in the future.
Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Moura State School provides studnets from 0 - 5 years of age who have a specialist diagnosis of moderate to severe impairment with weekly programs that are therapy and early learning focused. Parents are encouraged to call the school for further information.
