Languages other than English - Japanese

Japanese is offered from years 4-6 at Moura State School. We aim to incorporate both language and cultural skills into the students learning. The goal is to equip students with the knowledge and ability to interact with people from Japan. Topics such as lifestyle, food, religion, housing, schooling and customs are examined in great depth.

Integrated into this learning is a wide variety of Japanese language words and communication skills. Students are assessed on their acquistion of cultural and language skills. This is achieved through four main types of assessment:

  • Listening

  • Speaking

  • Reading

  • Writing

It is our aim to create students who are interested in and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and language, in the hope that one day these skills will be beneficial providing a vital learning tool for them to further their knowledge in this area.
